My family, originally from Pendleton County, Kentucky, started visiting Whitley County nearly 20 years ago. An avid fisherman, I wanted to find our boat and camper a place to settle -- our family’s second home.
After a summer we named our “Tour of Kentucky,” we found Laurel Lake. The Grove campground, the surrounding area, and the lake itself were the most beautiful and pristine in the state.
We kept our boat and camper here so it would be easier for us to travel together. During our stays, the previous owners of Bee Creek Market suggested we buy the store and permanently move to Whitley County. After some thought, in June of 2007, my wife and I took our chances; we became business owners committed to area development.
My family is delighted to be part of a developing community. From one tourist family who fell hook, line, and sinker for this area, we encourage you to come experience Whitley County’s wild wonder.
